Panjabi in XeLaTex

While writing my last paper I tried using XeLaTex for typesetting some Punjabi Text. In-spite of a large number of available packages in Sanskrit and Devnagari, support in Panjabi/Gurmukhi is limited.

As is apparent, XeLATeX packages supporting Panjabi still have issues typesetting correctly many new adoptions into the Unicode e.g. placement of ਸਿਹਾਰੀ and pairin-haha. Panjabi support is also missing in polyglossia which is next generation XeLATeX package for supporting Unicode and slowly replacing fontspec.
